Your personality reflected online
Website Design is a very personal thing, we can create designs for you, or work with your designers to create a design that matches your brand guidelines and your requirements.
When we create your design, we start off with a set of 'wire-frames', which create a story board for your site - this allows us to determine what will appear on each page, and can be changed very quickly. Once we have agreed the wireframes with you, we then go to the design stage where our (or your) graphic designers come up with a selection of styles to choose from.
If using external designers, we would recommend that they take into account the following aspects into their designs (we can brief this in)
- Brand Guidelines
- SEO Requirements
- Usability
- Accessibility
Once the designs are approved, we will apply the design to the chosen CMS system.
What is good design?
Designing a website is made up of two distinct disciplines and often requires seperate teams working on each. Here is how I define website design:
1: Layout and Functional Design
I believe this to be the key to a great website - in large websites especially, with many pages, functions, dynamic areas and products, designing a website is similar to creating an application, with ease of use and layout fundamental to the creation of the site.
This is the area that we focus on most, as it is the most important to get right. It is easy nowadays to change style, but functionality and usability are inherent to a website, and much more difficult to change once you've got it wrong.
2: Graphic Design
Graphic design is the visual representation of your brand on the website, the functional design will determine the layout of the pages, but the technology must not restrict good graphic design.
Graphic design is a personal thing, so we tend to use tried and tested freelancers internally, or you can use the graphic designers of your choice to whom we can provide a structured brief.
